Looking for exciting things for kids and teens to do these school holidays in Brisbane? There’s plenty happening close to home these School Holidays.

From hands on activities, live shows to outdoor adventures in local parks, our free and low-cost Active and Healthy Program offers something for everyone. Families can enjoy arts and crafts, games, library activities, and even learn to skate workshops perfect for keeping young minds active and entertained.

Rock Climbing

Date & Time: Tue 22 Sept, 7:30am - 9:30am and Tue 29 Sept, 7:30am - 9:30am

Location: Kangaroo Point Cliffs Park, Kangaroo Point

Description: Bookings essential. Conquer your fears and experience the thrills of climbing at Kangaroo Point under the safe instruction of qualified facilitators. This is a Chillout event suitable for young people 10-17 years.

Participants under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the activity. Adult belayer required for any participants under 13 years.

Fishing Fun

Location: Jindalee Boat Ramp

Description: Have fun learning or brushing up on your land-based fishing skills with the multi-award-winning team at 2 Bent Rods. All bait, tackle and equipment is provided. This is a GOLD'n'Kids event suitable for seniors and young people.

Spring Hub Flower Power

Location: Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha, Meet at the Auditorium lawn.

Description: Discover the fascinating world of flowers and the peculiar Pollinators who work with them at our Spring hub school holiday activities at the Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha.

Take off on a scientific exploration of our Sensory Garden, bursting with blooms of all shapes and sizes and bring your findings back to the hub where you can take a closer look with microscopes and magnifying glasses.

Get your hands dirty and turn science into art by making 3D clay pollen models and sensational seed balls. Finally compile all your field notes and decorate them with pen or a paintbrush while you discover more about the precious pollinators who help to keep our flowers fantastic and our fruit plentiful.

Bring a picnic blanket and lunch to enjoy on our grassy lawn.

Note: Children under 16 are to be accompanied by an adult.

Basketball Skills and Drills

Lord Mayor’s Children Program - Theatre Dome

Description: Brisbane City Council proudly presents a special Lord Mayor's Children's Program for Brisbane Festival.  

Step inside the TheatreDome! Channel Nine’s new entertaining and unconventional improv comedy show like no other.  

Young drama students join up in the hunt for ultimate theatrical glory, under the watchful eye of our host, the Great Overseer. Alongside their mentors, teams will face off in a rapid-fire series of theatre games and comedic scenes to amuse and enthrall the ruler of the Dome. Quick wit, unflinching instinct, and commitment to the bit are high in demand — we assure you it will not be bland!  

Can our teams’ theatrical thrills and spills earn the Overseer’s favour, and who amongst them will earn the right to be crowned as undisputed champions of the TheatreDome?

Accessible seating is available on the day.

Team Fitness Challenge

Location:  J.C. Slaughter Falls - Mt Coot-tha, Park area near entry.
