BUDGET NEWS 2026/27: Wilsons Walkway Restoration

Wilsons Walkway is a popular 1.2 kilometre bush track winding through the beautiful Mt Ommaney Bushland Reserve.

The intense rainfall from Cyclone Alfred caused a structural collapse leaving the track requiring major reconstruction.

Extensive geotechnical investigations have now been completed; plans are finalised to repair the damaged area and to reinstate a new track.

The washed-out section of the track has no vehicle access so all materials will need to be carried in by hand. The works are expected to take 16 weeks to complete

Works will kick off in October 2026 with a full rejuvenation of the entire track expected.

The track winds through beautiful bushland alongside the Brisbane River and offers a variety of natural landscapes. It is a great option for those wishing to enjoy a scenic walk while the current track is being refurbished.
