Pooh Corner Bushland Reserve saw its largest ever turnout for World Environment Day on Sunday, 2nd June.
The day began with a guided bird walk, followed by a children’s nature search. One of the main attractions was the koala walk, where attendees met Francois, the most recent koala released at Pooh Corner, along with a Platypus Watch presentation.
The event featured a wildlife show by Geckoes Wildlife and a free sausage sizzle cooked by the Kiwanis Club of Brisbane. Children’s activities and a photographic competition added to the fun.
A special congratulations to the winners of our photo competition, whose stunning shots can be seen below. Your talent captured the beauty of our environment perfectly.
I would like to thank all the volunteers from Wolston and Centenary Catchments (WaCC) and Centenary and District Environment Action (CDEA) for putting on this event, and a special thank you to Miah D’Castro and Alvin Nguyen for helping out on the day.
