Rocks Riverside Park has come to life with Yarn in the Park!
Discover this stunning open-air exhibition that will run until 10 July. The exhibition will see the park explode with colour through a variety of installations and interactive pieces to captivate children and adults.
The project started in 2021 with the Centenary Craft Circle. During the pandemic, many locals were struggling with their mental health. As a group, instead of knitting scarves and gloves, they wanted to contribute to lifting the spirits of locals, and the concept of yarn bombing the park was born.
Members of the Centenary Craft Circle have dedicated hundreds of hours towards knitting each component of the exhibition. Last year the exhibition brought incredible joy and happiness to the entire community. In essence, the exhibition is about connecting threads both physically and metaphorically. This year’s exhibit is expected to be equally impressive.
The yarn bombing features smiles, stripes, checks, and fun things. The creators loved watching locals interact with their creations and anticipate an even more vibrant display this year.
A big thank you and congratulations to the talented individuals from the Centenary Craft Circle who continue to bring immense joy to the community through Yarn in the Park. The hundreds of hours dedicated to brightening the suburb make a huge difference. The excitement for this year’s exhibit is high, and there is eager anticipation for the wonderful feedback from locals.
You can support the program by donating wool and yarn to our office at any time throughout the year.
